Customer Story: Serialization Compliance at A.forall

Repackaged medicines become new products with new serial numbers, and the link to the original pack has to be kept. A.forall and Movilitas.Cloud explain how they built that process together and moved it from manual steps to full automation.

ABOUT THE VIDEO

A.forall supports access to medicines across Europe, partly through parallel trade: buying products in one country, repackaging them and supplying them in another to help address shortages. Under EU-FMD, a repackaged product carries a new identity, so the original pack must be taken out of the system and linked to the new one. In this video, A.forall's Chief Information Officer and Marc Blekkink describe several years of working together on Movilitas.Cloud. They explain how the platform handles manual, semi-automated and fully automated repackaging, how it was extended to A.forall's generics business, and how it kept pace with changing requirements from the European Medicines Verification Organisation. The resulting process is now a standard solution used by other companies in Europe.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Repackaging under EU-FMD: how decommissioning the original pack and linking it to the new product is handled in one flow.
  • Manual to automated: a practical path from manual operations through semi-automation to full automation.
  • Growing with regulation: how the platform evolved alongside EMVO requirements over several years.
  • Beyond one business line: extending the same platform from parallel trade to generics serialization.
