Keep African traceability operations connected, visible and ready to act.
Manage the data, partners and workflows behind pharmaceutical traceability across African markets from one connected platform. Movilitas.Cloud helps manufacturers, importers and distributors prepare GS1 serialization and aggregation data, exchange EPCIS events and connect with national traceability systems as each market's requirements take effect.
Different markets. A shared GS1 foundation.
African traceability programs are at different stages, from nationwide mandates to pilots and published guidelines. Most build on GS1 standards: GTIN, serial number, batch and expiry encoded in a 2D Data Matrix, SSCC for logistics units, GLN for locations and EPCIS for event exchange. The markets below illustrate how requirements are developing across the continent.
Egypt: EDA national track-and-trace system:
Ministerial Decree No. 475 of 2025 and its implementing Decree No. 804 of 2025 require human and biological medicines to carry a 2D Data Matrix with product code, serial number, batch and expiry, with SSCC aggregation and EPCIS-based reporting. Requirements apply to imported finished products from February 2026 and to locally manufactured products from August 2026.
Nigeria: NAFDAC traceability regulations:
The NAFDAC Pharmaceutical Products Traceability Regulations 2024 require GS1-based barcoding and serialization, supported by a national traceability platform and product master data, to provide visibility of medicines from plant to patient.
Ethiopia: EFDA pharmaceutical traceability:
EFDA requires a GS1 2D Data Matrix carrying GTIN, serial number, batch and expiry, with SSCC for logistics units and GLN for locations. Suppliers upload data before consignments leave the manufacturing site, and receiving, shipping and recall events are reported to the national system.
Libya: national traceability pilot
Libya is running a live national pharmaceutical traceability pilot with Libya Trade Network, GS1 Libya and Boehringer Ingelheim, delivered on Movilitas.Cloud. It covers GS1 serialization and aggregation, EPCIS transaction tracking and the onboarding of importers, distributors and dispensers ahead of a planned national rollout.
Built for the teams behind every traceable pack.
Manufacturers and marketing authorisation holders:
Prepare product master data, serialize and aggregate packs and meet the requirements of each African market you supply.
Importers and local agents
Receive serialized products, confirm their data and report them to national systems before release.
Distributors, warehouses and 3PLs
Record receipts and shipments at the right packaging level and keep movement data complete.
Pharmacies and hospitals
Verify packs before dispensing and flag products that cannot be verified.
Make African traceability visible across your network.
Movilitas.Cloud connects the operational steps between product data, packaging, partners and national systems in one configurable environment, so each new market builds on the same operating model.
GS1 serialization
Generate or source serial numbers and encode them in GS1 Data Matrix and SSCC labels.
Aggregation management
Maintain the relationships between items, cases and pallets through packing, unpacking and relabeling.
EPCIS event exchange
Capture and share commissioning, shipping and receiving events in EPCIS format.
National system connectivity
Support configured connections to national traceability platforms as each market requires.
Partner and mobile onboarding
Connect importers, distributors and dispensers through the partner model and the Movilitas Mobile app, with offline scanning support.
Reporting and audit trail
Keep a complete history of identifiers, events, requests and responses for each market.
Connect the systems. Clarify the next action.
Movilitas.Cloud connects the systems and organisations that create, move and verify serialized products.
Master data
Register products, GTINs and locations for each market.
Serialize and aggregate
Commission packs and build case and pallet hierarchies.
Exchange events
Send configured EPCIS events to partners and national systems.
Verify and dispense
Confirm pack status at the point of receipt and dispensing.
Investigate and resolve
Use product, batch and partner context.
Built around African operating realities.
Support markets at different stages of maturity with one platform, from GS1 labeling readiness to full national reporting, while keeping responsibilities, requirements and regulatory connections clear.
Turn requirements into repeatable operations.
Build from the products, partners, systems and markets that define your European serialization landscape
Map your network
Identify the products, markets, partners, systems and responsibilities in scope
Connect the data
Bring together master data, serialization events and configured EU Hub processes.
Define the response model
Set visibility, ownership and follow-up paths for failed requests and alerts.
Extend across markets
Adapt the operating model as products, partners and national requirements evolve.
EU-FMD questions, answered.
Every setup depends on your role, products, partners and markets.
EU-FMD refers to the EU framework for preventing falsified medicines from entering the legal supply chain, including safety-feature and verification requirements.
