The United Nations Transparency Protocol (UNTP) is a global initiative led by UNCTAD to create a decentralized framework for product traceability and transparency across global supply chains. Its goal is to enable secure, standardized and interoperable data exchange between organizations – so that every product can carry a verifiable Digital Product Passport (DPP) capturing its journey from origin to end use.
By establishing a common digital language for transparency, the UNTP aims to unlock a new level of trust, sustainability and accountability in international trade – while directly addressing greenwashing by providing verifiable data on product origin, materials and environmental impact. This anti-greenwashing approach ensures that sustainability claims are backed by real, traceable information rather than marketing statements.
